Unlike some of our other products, Vitamin D is an essential vitamin that plays a preventative role. In other words, if it’s doing its job, you shouldn’t notice anything and that’s a good thing. However, if your Vitamin D levels are low, then you may notice a difference in as quickly as a few weeks.

As vegans, we built this product initially for our own use (and our families), so quality is of the utmost importance to us.

We work with an FDA-regulated and a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certified facility within the USA. Our facility has an intense quality control and raw ingredient supplier vetting process. We also carry out third party testing on every single batch.

Nope! Our product is free from all of those

Our Vitamin D comes from the plant lichen. It’s also the D3 version rather than the D2. Most Vitamin D found in supplements is made from lanolin, which is from sheep's wool. Since we’re a vegan brand, we prefer to use plant-based nutrients, which are just as potent.

It’s estimated that up to 41% of U.S. adults are deficient in Vitamin D, but for certain groups like those with darker skin, which makes it harder to absorb sunlight, it could be as high as 82%. According to the latest EPIC Oxford Study, vegans do tend to have lower levels of Vitamin D. Vitamin D is an essential nutrient for healthy bone, muscle and immunity function.

You generally need to spend at least 20 minutes in direct midday sunlight to get enough Vitamin D, but for most of us with indoor jobs, that’s simply not possible, particularly if you live north of Los Angeles where it can be very hard to get enough Vitamin D during the colder months.

Our Lichen does not use any herbicides or pesticides, we just haven’t had our lichen certified organic yet.
